Virtual internships are a great way to gain experience of working in a professional area that interests you as a career.

These internships consist of a short activity or project created by a company but are usually unpaid. The idea is that it is realistic and reflects the type of work a young graduate may be doing. The best bit – you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

The Forage has virtual internship offerings from around 150 companies. They:

• Are free
• Can be done from any location with wifi
• Take about 3-5 hours
• Can be included in your resume

While the internships are not a recruitment tool for employers, they may record your details and should you apply for a role with them in the future your name may be on file as a virtual intern, showing you have initiative and interest.
