Change of Preference

Once you have your ATAR, you can add, remove or reorder courses on your VTAC preference list during the Change of Preference period.

What is the Change of Preference period?

During specified periods during Year 12 and after your results are released, you will be able to add, remove or re-order your course preferences in your VTAC course application. These periods give you the chance to carefully consider your application and speak to us to answer any questions before you make your decision.

FAQs

When can I change my VTAC preference?

Change of Preference opens on 29 July and closes on 14 December 2024 at 12pm. It will reopen 23-24 December 2024 and again in January and February 2025. Deakin College will be available to take online and phone queries during each Change of Preference round.

You can find all the dates for Change of Preference periods on the VTAC website.

What are the requirements needed for entry into a Deakin College Diploma?

For domestic students who are under 21 years old, the entry requirement into Deakin College is one of the following:

  • Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 (VCE, VCE VM, Unscored VCE or the equivalent from any Australian state or territory), or;
  • Certificate IV (12-month course)

You can find out more on our Entry Requirements page.

I am a Year 12 student, do I apply directly via Deakin College’s website or via VTAC?

Australian students should apply through VTAC, unless:

  • You are applying for a Deakin College course that begins in June or October or;
  • You are applying for a Deakin College course that starts in March and you are not currently studying a standard Australian Year 12 curriculum or;
  • The VTAC Change of Preference rounds have closed for the March intake.

Find out more about direct and VTAC applications on our application process webpage.
